An Evening of Comedy: Four Funny One Act Plays

Looking for something fun to do this weekend?  How about watching an amazing show that will bring endless laughs and features our very own Souhegan students? This Friday and Saturday Souhegan High School’s drama club presents An Evening of Comedy: Four Funny One Act Plays, with many different topics such as a magic pencil,  challenges of putting on a performance, and complicating family secrets!  The talented cast ranges from freshman to seniors.

There are two adult directors for this show: Stan St. Onge and Jennifer Stover.  We had the opportunity to speak with Mrs. Stover about her show.  She directs the final act called, All The Bases. She was also the theater director for many years over at Amherst Middle School.  She has loved her time with this cast and the experience of directing her first play at the high school.

“What I love about this show is that every single act is hilarious.  There are some really cheesy and corny parts of the show, but the students adapted well and deliver the lines perfectly.  The crowd will definitely have a good laugh while watching,” said Stover when asked about her favorite aspect of the show.

Two other new additions to the directing team this year were Seniors Matt Katsigianis and Naomi Cohen. They each directed an act in the play.

Cohen is directing the act called, On the Porch One Crisp Spring Morning. Her act only has two actors that perform on stage.  It is very action packed and definitely will have the audience on the edge of their seats.  Even though directing kids her own age might seem challenging to others, she had an amazing time with her cast!“ Working with my actors Faith and Helen has been a dream, I couldn’t have imagined it going any better!”  Cohen said in regards to her directing experience.

The cast and crew have been working non-stop for the past few months preparing this show for audiences.  If you are looking for a good laugh, we would definitely recommend seeing the show!  Tickets are available in the Welcome Center all week, and only cost$5 for students.  Come support your fellow students and friends by seeing the An Evening of Comedy:Four Funny One Act Plays!
