Climbing Club Rocks
November 17, 2016
Almost everyone at Souhegan has spent some time rock climbing because of 9th grade wellness class. If you enjoyed it, and want to go climbing again, you should join the rock climbing club! The club usually climbs in the mini-gym, but they recently took a trip to Vertical Dreams Indoor Climbing in Nashua. The club was formed by senior Matt Chistolini, who also coordinates club’s activities. His sister Jackie, a sophomore is also in the club.
“I have a lot of fun. There’s a lot of really nice people who do climbing, the climbing community is great…And it’s exercise, so it’s even better. You don’t even realize you’re exercising.” said Jackie.

Climbing club is a fairly new club, created this year. “I had some rope, and it was in the back of my car, and I was like, ‘I can do something with this.’ ” said Matt, about the origins of the club. “There was, like, sixty meters of rope, and it needed a home, I needed to share it with people.”
His sister added that he “wanted to share his passion for climbing with others.”
“Yeah, there we go,” Matt agreed.
Climbing club is a lot of fun, a good workout, and a great way to continue climbing if you’ve been missing it. It meets Fridays at 2:30 in the mini gym. Family Climbing is in the gym from 7-9 every Monday night.
