Izzy Anton named WMUR’s Hometown Hero
October 6, 2017
This week Souhegan High School’s starting field hockey goalie, Izzy Anton, was named WMUR’s Hometown Hero. Every week, WMUR selects an outstanding NH high school athlete to be named that week’s Hometown Hero.
Izzy is a senior at Souhegan and she has been playing field hockey for several years now. However, what makes her accomplishments on the field all the more special is that fact that she is battling Multiple Sclerosis (MS). MS is a lifelong disease that affects the brain, spinal cord, and eyes, causing problems relating to vision, balance, muscles, and other things. Izzy was diagnosed when she was twelve years old and says that most days her MS is manageable, but there are days where it can be really difficult too.
She plans to continue playing field hockey next year while studying at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish, ME.
