A surprise snow storm forces three schools to get together and rearrange their trip to Florida in less than twenty-four hours. Due to sleet, snow, and ice.   It was no longer an option for Hollis Brookline, Souhegan High School, and Milford High School to leave for the airport at the planned time of 5:00 am on thursday morning.

Due to bad weather overnight, our Superintendent Adam Steel and Principal Rob Scully have worked to come up with an alternative travel plan to Boston, ” said band director Carl Benevides of SHS in the last minute email update.

On what everyone knew as the day before they had to leave, Wednesday, February 20th, the band directors, choir directors, superintendents, principles and etc. got together to make a new plan. Once the plan was established they then informed everyone’s parents through email and called the students out of class to alert them as well.

In the mass email, Carl Benevides said, “We will load the buses and equipment truck at 6:00 pm tonight. We will roll out of SHS by 6:30 to the Courtyard by Marriott Boston Logan Airport. Students will stay the night at the Marriott and will shuttle to Logan Airport in time for their flights in the morning.”

Although they were lucky to not have to rearrange any of the actual Florida trip this made last-minute packing difficult for many students. It also was problematic for students with important plans that night. However if necessary a student could notify Benevides and drive separately to the hotel that night.

It is stated in the email that, “If you have chosen an option other than leaving with us at 6:00 pm tonight, you MUST notify Carl as soon as possible.”

In the end, everything worked out well and every student signed up for the trip made it successfully to Disney World where they then slept, ate, performed, and had fun in the parks.
