A Midsummer’s Dream of Stardom
A Midsummer’s Night Dream is a classic piece of Shakespearean theater and was recently performed by members of the Souehgan community. Reporter Haley Fichtner interviewed several members of the cast and found out how they all caught the acting bug.
Growing up both of Duncan McGrath's brothers acted and he followed in their steps. The first show he performed in was his elementary school version of “The Nutcracker”. But when Duncan moved he put a pause on acting until he auditioned and got a part for a student-directed show in eighth grade. When asked if singing or acting is something he would want to be a career, Duncan replied “No, it’s just not my passion”. Duncan also admits that sometimes he does get nervous before going on stage. Duncan plays Peter Quince in the play. He would describe him as nervous, kind of a dope and a bit of an idiot but just overall wants to put on the best show. Some advice Duncan would give someone looking to try out for theatre would be “1. Be yourself, 2. Don’t try to come across superior to everyone else and 3. You’re not going to get the best part in a show right away but keep auditioning and you will get there. “
